Students must have previous basic sewing knowledge for this course. The Adult 101 – Learning to Sew Class is required unless you have received special permission from the sewing instructor. You should already know how to select patterns and fabrics, how to lay out and cut a pattern, how to check your personal measurements, and how to use a sewing machine with confidence. This class will help you understand more about fitting yourself. You can complete the pattern/garment of your choice or you can work on a project of your choice. Suggestions are to learn to line a garment, put in sleeves, work with various fabric, buttonholes, types of zippers, cording/piping, collars, trims, etc.. You might also be working on small home decorating projects such as pillows and cushions. The link for the registration is given above.
Machines are always available at Pins & Needles for you to use in classes. If you would like to use your own machine to become more familiar with it you are welcome to bring it to class. Please be sure your machine is in good mechanical condition and that you have the necessary parts, machine instruction manual, needles, bobbins, zipper feet, etc., to use during your class if you bring your own machine.
